We’re Leading the Charge on Eco-Friendly Landscaping in Virginia

Looking forward to a greener, more sustainable future

Gas-powered lawn and garden equipment, while efficient, can be noisy and produce emissions that are harmful to your health and the health of the environment. Add in the high cost of maintenance and fuel, and you see why switching to electric-powered alternatives is so compelling.

At Brandon Rushing, we believe how we achieve the exceptional results our clients expect from us is just as important as the results themselves. In a competitive market often driven by price, we’re obsessed with delivering exceptional value by finding better ways to do our job.

One of those ways is to transition 90% of our gas-powered equipment to eco-friendly electric equipment.

Leading the charge toward cleaner air

We’re proud to be at the forefront of Virginia's shift toward eco-friendly landscaping. While not currently mandated, we have committed to transitioning at least 90% of our equipment to eco-friendly, battery-powered alternatives over the next several months. This move significantly reduces harmful emissions, contributing to cleaner air for ourselves and our communities.

Some studies show that gas-powered equipment emits as many harmful emissions as eleven cars! By switching to electric equipment, we eliminate these emissions, directly benefiting the health of our clients and their families and reducing our carbon footprint.

Reducing noise pollution

Electric equipment is notably quieter than traditional gas-powered tools. Gas mowers, blowers and other equipment can produce noise levels of up to 90 decibels, equivalent to the noise of a loud truck. This can be disruptive for neighbors — especially those working from home — and harmful to our team members.

Our new battery-powered tools operate at much lower noise levels, somewhere in the neighborhood of 65- 70 decibels — as loud as normal conversation — resulting in a more peaceful environment for you and your neighbors and a safer work environment for our team.

Innovation keeps prices stable

Over the past few years, inflation has been at an all-time high. This has impacted the cost of doing business, but rather than simply increasing our prices, we’re constantly looking for ways to keep costs down without affecting the quality of our services.

Electric-powered equipment wasn’t always a viable option. We’ve spent the last decade researching and testing commercial-grade electric equipment looking for brands that could deliver exceptional results. Our team now feels confident the technology has finally reached a tipping point, allowing us to transition without compromising performance.

We’ll also reduce costs by eliminating gasoline and reducing maintenance expenses, which will help keep our prices stable.

Turning yard waste into resources

In addition to transitioning to eco-friendly equipment, our team is testing an innovative program to reduce — and possibly eliminate — organic waste and the resources needed to dispose of it.

Our innovative, organic composting program focuses on turning yard debris into natural fertilizer. By shredding leaves on-site and using them as fertilizer, we save on equipment and dump fees while significantly reducing our carbon footprint. Starting in the fall of 2024 we’ll be micro-shredding our client’s fall leaves too, leaving them to naturally decompose into the soil.

These practices help enrich your soil with essential nutrients, promoting healthier plant growth and improving your garden's resilience without relying solely on chemical fertilizers.

Composting can also help reduce greenhouse gas emissions by avoiding the methane production associated with landfill disposal. Methane is a potent greenhouse gas, with over 25 times the impact on climate change compared to carbon dioxide over 100 years!

We’re committed to a greener future

At Brandon Rushing, our commitment to innovation and eco-friendly practices sets us apart in the industry, driving us to deliver exceptional results while reducing our environmental footprint. By constantly seeking better ways to care for your property, we are preserving its beauty and protecting the planet for future generations.
